about dream world

A world woven by the hearts of the living, In tender yearning for those who have passed.
As day fades into the embrace of night, As winter yields to the breath of spring,
From the first pulse of birth to the stillness of death, And onward to the dawn of rebirth— A perpetual universe, circling forever in the dance of eternity.

Figures

Dawn

Also known as Pulse or Yang, she is the conceptual manifestation of birth and life activity itself; her essence is Light. As the Guardian of Daybreak, she presides over the Yang realm—the material world of the living—quietly observing the cycle of life without direct interference. Though positioned at the opposite pole of Death, she is utterly merciless toward humanity. Her brilliance, which forbids any stagnation, at times rains down as a trial even more harrowing than death itself.

Death

Also known as Night or Yin, she is the conceptual manifestation of the void and the end; her essence is Darkness. As the Guardian of Silent Night, she presides over the Yin realm—the spiritual world of the dead—watching over the stillness after the flicker of life has vanished. She never seeks to reap lives by her own hand, yet she accepts the inevitable end without hesitation, embracing the wandering deceased with a profound gentleness.

Pillar

Also known as Crown or Coordinate, this sacred mountain soars as if piercing through the worlds of Yin and Yang; its essence is the Vertical Axis. A deity born from the prayers for the cycle of life and the harmony of nature, she is the Mother who bestows the sustenance required by all living things. With a summit that pierces the heavens and roots that reach the abyss, she tethers the equilibrium of the world.

Hollow

Also known as Trace or Maid, this entity is a reflection of souls that moves freely across the boundaries of Yin and Yang; its essence is the Horizontal Axis. It is a resonance of days long gone and an omen of futures yet to come. Wandering the interstices of time—past, present, and future—it continues to search for the shadows left behind by beloved souls who have passed away.

Doll

Also known as Memento or Keepsake, she is the incarnation of the childhood heart and memories hidden in the deepest recesses of the soul; her essence is the Core (True Nucleus). She is a state of innocent emotion that dwells only within the profound depths of human consciousness.

Scar

Also known as Guard or Wrath, she is the incarnation of anger and the instinct to protect; her essence is the Shell (Outer Crust). Residing in the deepest strata of "Garden of Origin", she incinerates stagnant emotions, reducing even the trees of the garden to ash. Her true form is the manifestation of the longings and sorrows hidden within Doll—the very cry of a soul refusing to be wounded or defiled.

world - Yin-

Ⅰ.Corridor of Memories

The first place a deceased soul sets foot in the Yin world. Along the quiet path, frames reflecting memories of their former life are lined up. It is the first step for a soul, having relinquished its physical form, to look back upon and cherish its own life.

Ⅱ.Hill of Star-Sending

The place where "treasures" released from the physical body are placed upon arks and launched into the sky. These treasures become eternal stars shining in the Yin sky. Desires that did not become stars turn into sand, piling up to form white hills.

Ⅲ.House of the Red Roof

A small, somehow nostalgic house standing at the highest point of the Yin world.

Ⅳ.Mirror Spring

A spring that reflects the Yang world. A place for the dead to watch over the living.

Ⅴ.The Repository = Akashic Records

A sealed record of all life located deep within the Forest of Oblivion. It is normally unreachable; there are no doors, and no one may enter. The happiness and regrets of every life are preserved equally, referred to by the world itself when determining the destination of a soul's reincarnation.

Ⅵ.Forest of Oblivion

A forest where Crow-Ash trees (Zanthoxylum ailanthoides) grow in clusters. A place where souls dissolve their names and memories to forget everything and be born anew. They transform into pupae, undergoing self-dissolution and reconstruction, before finally emerging as a new life through eclosion.

Ⅶ.Garden of Origin

The beginning garden where newly born lives enrich and nurture their hearts.
≫Surface Layer (Layer of Flowers)
A meadow where Spring Starflowers (Ipheion uniflorum) bloom in profusion. The chatter and laughter of flowers can be heard.
≫Middle Layer (Layer of Trees)
A grove inhabited by various animals and insects. When the wolf of the deep layer rampages, this layer is scorched and turned pure white with ash. The ash, carried by the wind, becomes the nourishment that nurtures the flowers of the surface.
≫Deep Layer (Layer of the Wolf)
Home to the incarnation of wrath (Scar) wielding a hatchet, who frequently rampages and burns the forest to purify emotions.

Ⅷ.Eternal Stele

A gravestone standing on the surface layer of the Garden of Origin. A place for the living to acknowledge their loss and offer mourning.

Ⅸ.Tree of Life

A giant tree soaring at the apex of the Yang world, bearing shining stars equal to the number of living souls. Counting those stars is also a way of reconfirming the absence of a certain someone.

Ⅹ.Tower of Reminiscence

An observatory where the living think of the dead and gaze upon the sky of the other world. From the top of the tower, the sky of the Yin world can be seen shining bright.

Ⅺ.Site of the Old Repository

Located at the opposite pole of the Repository, where a derelict library and blank books lie scattered. A grave where memories that have spilled over from consciousness arrive to sleep.
"Even that which cannot be remembered now is never truly lost."

Ⅻ.The Final Bridge

A bridge spanning the river that divides Yang and Yin. Once crossed, the opposite shore can no longer be seen, even if one looks back. To cross is to let go of one’s own future, and the further one proceeds, the lighter the body becomes. It is the bridge that every life must ultimately cross at the very end.
